Now is the time to combat the heat of summer!    For those summer vegetables that wilt with the sun( Lettuce, celery, some greens and late peas) now is the time to build a net shading over them.  Nett forshade can be bought anywhere that sells garden supplies.  Or large canvas bags, or even an old sheet can be tied to four corner post and hammered into the ground.  The rain will still penetrate and the sun will not be as harsh.  Sitting under a bit of shade this time of the year is not a bad idea.
